We pride ourselves in nurturing the children we care for.  We promote learning not just in preparation for school, but to give your child life skills and confidence to explore and develop their own personalities and learning styles. Our approach is very child centred.

The Montessori Method
The Montessori method is based on a child centred approach where children discover and learn at their own pace, spontaneously choosing purposeful educational equipment to work with, in a carefully prepared environment.  Within this environment are uniquely prepared Montessori materials for development which contain a control of error, so that the child is able to successfully complete their chosen task and recognise and correct any mistake. The teacher constantly observes the children and will provide support whenever needed. Other materials are included in the environment to meet the individual needs of children, but are used in such a way as to support the essential principles and philosophy of the Montessori approach.

Underlying Principles
The underlying principles of freedom, independence and self discipline form an integral part of Montessori education and are encouraged throughout the classroom. Children are able to choose what they wish to work with. Such freedom of choice encourages independence and builds on the child's sense of identity and preferences for learning. Freedom and independence also help the child to develop a capacity for self discipline, but adult support is always available to ensure guidance is on hand if required. We work and play within an environment where great importance is placed on social interaction and children are encouraged to help and respect each other and their environment.

Positive Attitudes
We place particular emphasis on courtesy, grace and manners and every opportunity is provided for each child to strengthen positive attitudes towards themselves, others and to the joy of learning. A happy and settled child, is a child who will learn and develop to their potential!
